What is search engine optimisation (SEO)?

SEO is the art of getting your site on to page 1 of a Google search results page for a particular search term. There is only one show in town when it comes to search and that is Google.

But Google is failing in our view. PIck any seach term and try it yourself. You will see the results page is populated by paid-for results and spam sites, or listings sites.

Google search results are populated by spam sites that 'play the SEO game' on Google. If you want to be on Page 1 of Google then you also have to play the game until some search competitors come along.

Reputation mangement

Google search results are dominated by listings sites, reviews sites and deals sites. The first time someone sees you online it could be from one of these sites. The probem is these sites are populated with user-generated content. In other words what people are saying about you. If you have a good reputation it can be destroyed by just one person having a bad hair day or holding a grudge.
